Lead Software Engineer

About the Role
As the Lead Software Engineer at Politirate, you'll be responsible for architecting, developing, and scaling our website and mobile app. You'll work closely with our CTO to ensure a seamless user experience while implementing new features that drive civic engagement. This role is hybrid, requiring occasional in-person collaboration in Greater Boston.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Politirate's web and mobile applications using modern full-stack technologies
- Collaborate with designers and product managers to implement a user-friendly UI
- Lead technical decision-making and ensure high performance, security, and scalability
- Mentor junior developers and enforce best coding practices
- Work with DevOps to optimize deployment and infrastructure efficiency
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in full-stack development (React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS)
- Strong front-end and back-end development skills with a focus on performance and scalability
- Experience with mobile app integration (React Native preferred)
- Knowledge of security best practices and cloud infrastructure
- Passion for civic engagement and improving government accessibility
